The Group’s started from humble beginnings by Wie Hock Beng since 1996. Possessed an entrepreneur visionary foresight, he capitalised the industry opportunities at that time; believing that Malaysia construction would grow exponentially as the country developed. Began as a subcontractor doing civil engineering and building works, Pesona Metro attained the CIDB ‘G7’ license in 1999 and since then secured its first drainage project exceeding RM5 million in Putrajaya followed by roads, bridges, dams and beautification and rehabilitation of rivers upon successfully attained Class ‘A’ status licence from PKK in 2001. The year 2002 changed the entire Pesona Metro paradigm. It secured its first “Design and Build” project as main contractor for the ‘Rehabilitation and Beautification of Melaka River (Phase 1, 2 & 3)’ with contract value exceeding RM234 million. This notable project created a new chapter in Pesona Metro’s history. Besides completed on scheduled, it went on to win the prestigious Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (“PAM”) 2009 Awards under Category 8 (Special Category) and FIABCI Malaysia Property Award of Special Award for National Contribution 2011 and hence, testified strongly on Pesona Metro reputations and track records as well as its capabilities in delivery high quality projects. In 2006, Pesona Metro secured high-rise building project, named Zehn Bukit Pantai which comprised two blocks of 25 storey luxury condominium. Further, Pesona Metro successfully secured and completed several significant projects. Among others are, river realignment and rehabilitation of 3.7 km Sungai Kerayong in Kuala Lumpur, “Design and Build” of Timah Tasoh Dam in Perlis and roads and bridges works in Terengganu. Currently, the Group secured more than RM500 million worth of contracts in its order books, including Sastra U-Thant luxury condominium in Kuala Lumpur, ”Design and Build” Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (“CIQ”) complex and passenger jetty in Melaka and the East Coast Economic Region (“ECER”) CSR Package 3 from Gua Musang, Kelantan to Kg.Relong, Pahang (Section 3F: Kg. Kubang Rusa – Kg. Sg. Yu). In summary, within a few years from its humble beginnings since 1996, the Group has transformed from a small scale subcontractor to a full-fledged, integrated main contractor offering a comprehensive range of construction business. The Group through its main subsidiary; PMSB is growing leaps and bounds and it is currently aspires to become one of the most prominent construction companies in Malaysia as testified by the various awards and accolades it continues to garner throughout the years. Among some notable awards are, the Malaysia Independence Award 2009 and 2010, Star Category in recognition of Pesona Metro achievements and contributions to nation building, the Golden Bull Awards 2010 for Malaysia’s 100 Outstanding SMEs, Three (3) Stars award by CIDB and the Best Brands Corporate Branding Award under the Engineering and Construction Category, BrandLaureate-SMEs Chapter Awards 2010.
