Farlim was incorporated in Malaysia under the Companies Act, 1965 on 12 March 1982 as a private limited company under the name of Perumahan Farlim (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. The Company subsequently assumed its present name on 24 October 1994. It was converted to a public limited company on 25 October 1994 and listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (now known as Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad BMSB) on 26 July 1995.
Farlim is principally involved in property development while its subsidiaries are involved in property development, investment holding, marketing and distribution of building materials, cultivation of oil palm in Malaysia and various manufacturing activities in China such as canned food, flour milling, printing and trading among others. Farlim was conferred two awards ie. the Prime Minister's 1990 Quality Award and the 1992 Malaysian Institute of Planners "Excellence in Urban Planning" Award.
