Hello there, my name is Thomas & I'm a Principal Trading Representative with Phillip Securities.
I've been with Phillip for more than 20 years serving and helping my Clients navigate the treacherous waters of the markets.
I'm also a Chartered Market Technician (https://cmtassociation.org) which basically means I analyse Chart Patterns for a living!
I always like to say 'You must have an angle, theme, or story, that the crowd will hungrily latch on later. That, coupled with applied Technical Analysis, will be your edge over Mr Market.'
Many of the posts I put up here shows how I use Applied Technical Analysis to guide my trading and investment decisions in the following areas:
1. Analyzing International Charts (Dollar Index, Bond Yields, Major Indices, etc) gives me a quick macro view of the state of affairs in the world's markets.
2. Analyzing local stocks' chart patterns (sometimes foreign stocks) to scan for bullish setups and create concise entry, exit & stop loss points.
3. Usually during market corrections I do not issue any buy calls. My focus will then turn to analyzing the S&P500 Index corrective pattern since the US markets tend to lead the rest of the world's markets. Why risk when the Trend isn't your Friend?
4. Lastly, do I look at company fundamentals for my own analysis? Of course, it helps to complete the picture! But I seldom discuss it here as it is beyond the scope. In any case, there are probably more blogs/websites out there using Fundamental Analysis or Value Investing angle than there are for APPLIED Technical Analysis.
